8th European Workshop on Applied Cultural Economics (EWACE). September 7-9, 2017, Cracow University of Economics, Cracow, Poland- The European Workshop on Applied Cultural Economics (EWACE) was founded in 1990 and is intended to provide a forum for the development and dissemination of applications of quantitative methods in cultural economics, as well as cultural-related applications of mathematical economics, experimental economics and other quantitative approaches (e.g. applied micro and macroeconometric approaches). Possible topics include aspects of industrial organization of cultural products and services (e.g. pricing, trade), labour market issues of artists (e.g. wages, cultural participation), spillovers and externalities of firms in the cultural sector (agglomeration) and studies on demand elasticities. 2016: International Conference on Computational and Financial Econometrics (Seville), Association for Cultural Economics International (Valladolid)

The 10th International Conference on Computational and Financial Econometrics (CFE 2016)  took place at the Higher Technical School of Engineering, University of Seville, Spain, 9-11 December 2016. Tutorials were given on Thursday 8th of December 2016 and a CRoNoS Winter Course did take place the 6-7 December 2016. This conference was organized by the CFEnetwork, University of Seville, Spain, Queen Mary University of London and Birkbeck University of London, UK. The new journal Econometrics and Statistics (EcoSta) and its supplement, the Annals of Computational and Financial Econometrics are the main sponsors of the conference. Co-chairs: Peter Boswijk, Jianqing Fang, Alain Hecq, Michael Smith.

European Economic Association – The EUROPEAN ECONOMIC ASSOCIATION (EEA) is an international scientific body, with membership open to all persons involved or interested in economics. Individual membership of the EEA includes access to the Journal of the Economic Association (JEEA). Members can submit papers to JEEA for no fee. Members also have the right to submit a paper to the EEA annual congress and attend the event.

The European Workshop on Applied Cultural Economics is intended to provide a forum for the development and dissemination of applications of quantitative methods in cultural economics, as well as cultural-related applications of mathematical economics, experimental economics and other quantitative approaches.

The workshop will consist of 15-20 papers and the number of participants will be limited to around 25. Each paper will be allocated 45 minutes, made up of a presentation by the authors, followed by a comment from a nominated discussant and a general discussion. Papers will be circulated in advance and taken as read.

Swiss Society of Economics and Statistics (Geneva) Statistics is a growing area of research and its fields of application are also on the rise. Public, private and academic sectors alike are constantly seeking data, methods and models which will allow them to make more informed decisions or draw conclusions in uncertain scenarios. On the one side, there is a need to aggregate and understand the data, thereby selecting the most appropriate techniques for their analysis. On the other side, it is of increasing importance for these techniques to be as accurate as possible so as to reduce risks in the decision-making procedure or in research-based conclusions.
